Alfaparf Lisse Design Express Keratin Therapy
Key Benefits Of Alfaparf Lisse Design Express
The Alfaparf Lisse Design Express Keratin Therapy Kit contains an innovative combination of keratin-collagen complex and essential oils to repair hair damage and reshape the follicle. This helps to reduce frizz, increase manageability, and results in softer, smoother, healthier hair. These benefits mean you will have more time in the morning to style your hair and create a look that will last all day. Also, when you next wash your hair, the time it takes to blow-dry will speed up because the hair cuticle has now been packed with Keratin and fully sealed in. This treatment is formaldehyde-free and the shampoo and mask are also sulphate and paraben free products – so not damaging to your hair at all.
Keratin Treatment Results & How Long Does It Last
After this treatment, your hair will look smoother, softer and more manageable. You can expect the results to last up to 3 months generally. However, this can sometimes be less or more – it all depends on each person’s hair type and your aftercare regime.
You’ll be free from tangles and knots that can appear between washes, and the natural movement and bounce of your hair will return. You can expect smoother, softer, healthier hair with increased manageability. Having performed these treatments on salon customers every week, I can fully testify to the results that can be achieved.
It is also perfectly fine to use on coloured hair and will not fade the colour. I had a client whose hair I would do this treatment on, and she would then come back 2/3 days later to have her highlights done. In theory, it can be done in any order. However, I always preferred to do the colour afterwards.
Essential Tools You'll Need
- A set of hair straighteners – ghd set temperature straighteners are OK, or use one with an adjustable setting.
- A good quality hair dryer which is worth the investment. See our comparison guide to the best rated hair dryers to see which one comes out on top.
- Flat paddle brush or a medium round brush.

Alfaparf Keratin Treatment: Step-By-Step Guide
In this section, we’ll take you through each step of carrying out the Alfaparf Lisse Design Express Keratin Therapy treatment, giving you as much detail as possible.
Step 1: Using The Alfaparf Deep Cleansing Shampoo
Start using the Keratin Therapy Lisse Design Deep Cleansing Shampoo on your hair. This will help remove all product build-up and other dirt and debris. Massage the shampoo into your scalp for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. You mustn’t skip this step or use a regular shampoo because applying the Keratin solution to dirty hair will limit the fluid ability to penetrate the cuticle.
Step 2: Applying The Alfaparf Keratin Smoothing Fluid
After using the shampoo, towel-dry your hair, so there is no water dripping off your hair and comb through to detangle. I suggest wrapping a towel around your shoulders or wearing an old top or hoodie. Once you’re ready, you then need evenly distribute the fluid throughout the hair. Splitting and applying to your hair in 1-2 inch sections is more manageable. For best results, get a friend or family member to help; if that’s not an option, no worries, you’ll still be able to do it yourself.
You don’t need to apply the smoothing fluid to the scalp. Start 1-2 inches from the scalp and use a generous amount to saturate the hair to the tip thoroughly. The AlfaParf Keratin Smoothing Fluid comes out of the bottle in foam form, making it easy to achieve even coverage.
You’ll then need to clip your hair up and leave the fluid on the hair for 20 minutes or so, and we recommend using a plastic cap. Doing so will keep the heat from your head circulating under the cap and help the Keratin fluid to penetrate your hair thoroughly. If your house is a little cold, use a hair dryer to waft low/medium heat over the cap. Some condensation might start forming inside the cap – perfectly normal. After 20 minutes, remove the cap, unclip the hair and allow it to rest for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Is Step 3 Missing From The Kit?
No, it is not missing a product in the box. Step 3 is an optional step originally included when the treatment service was first introduced into professional salons. It has since been suggested to hairdressers that this step is no longer needed. However, the products are still labelled 1-4, with number 3 being a detangling cream.
The results are better when using the long 3-step method. I have done over 40 of these treatments using the 3-step approach since it replaced the original 4-step method. However, for the sake of complete transparency, I will explain what this step is.
After leaving on the AlfaParf Keratin Smoothing Fluid for 20 minutes, use a flat or paddle brush to blow-dry the hair straight, so it is dry and reasonably straight. Using the hair straightener, you must start at the nape of your neck and take small sections of hair. On a 180/190°C heat setting, slowly move the straightener down the hair shaft in a slow and steady motion. After finishing the straightening process, take a few more minutes and review some of the sections again.
As I’ve already said, this step was still included as an option – however, it takes longer to do, and the results are not as good. AlfaParf might have removed this from the instructions now, or they might not have – always check the instructions yourself.
Step 4: Applying The Alfaparf Keratin Hydrating Mask
Heads up, this is a gorgeous product and smells fantastic. First, rinse your hair for about 30-45 seconds – not much longer. Don’t worry about aggressively using your hands and trying to wash it all out. You only need a quick rinse and want some Keratine fluid to stay in the hair.
After the rinse, it’s time to apply the Keratin Hydrating Mask to the hair. Start with a heaped 50p piece size and apply to the mid-lengths and ends. If you have super-long hair, use a little more; plenty is in the bottle for re-apply more. You need to leave this mask on for 5-10 minutes. After it has done its magic, again, you’ll need to rinse it off for 30-45 seconds – DO NOT wash it out or use a shampoo.
Step 5: Blow-drying & Straightening Your Hair
Towel-dry your hair so there are no drips – getting out as much water as you can Waaaft dry your hair with a hairdryer to remove as much moisture as possible. Point the hair dryer downwards from root to tip, so the hair cuticle closes. Next, grab a paddle or round brush – whichever you find easier to use. Blow-dry your hair nice and straight. Even just this stage, you’ll notice how smooth and easy to manage your hair is.
Once completed, you’ll then move on to the straightening stage. This stage is vital and should not be rushed or skipped. This is to use the heat from the straighteners to lock the Keratin into the hair cuticle and fully close it.
Start on the lower layers, as close to the nape of your neck as possible – if you can, get a friend to help you. The section of hair you take should be no bigger than 1 inch thick – smaller if you can. You’ll need to go over each section 6-8 times in a controlled manner – get as close to the root as you can and repeat until the hair looks ultra smooth.
Alfaparf Lisse Design Express Keratin Aftercare
Once you have finished with the treatment, it’s important to remember a few things to maintain stunning results. Do not rewash your hair for 24-48 hours; this will give the Keratin particles ample time to embed themselves into the cuticle.
We suggest only using the AlfaParf Liss Design keratin therapy shampoo intended to go with this treatment—it features the Kera-Protection complex to keep your hair looking smooth and healthy. Even on its own, the shampoo works wonders, and the clients in our salon love them. The Keratin shampoo is paraben and sulphate-free and specially formulated to prolong the life of your hair treatment.
If you don’t use the AlfaParf Milano hair care, use another sulphate-free shampoo at least. Using a sulphate-free shampoo is vital because using a shampoo with sulphates will strip and remove the Keratin which has been deposited into your hair. Also, use heat protection when styling your hair with heat styling tools to help prevent any damage.
